Granite was scheduled to be installed this past Monday…well that was postponed to Tuesday by the installers at last minute. Ugh.
Tuesday came and the granite was installed! I had an appointment with the floor stainer, so I took a little PTO and stopped at the house Tuesday afternoon. The place was buzzing! Electricians were hanging lights and finishing outlets. The floor man was staining samples in the kitchen. The granite installers were just finishing up.

We did not order the granite backsplash because it seemed like it would be too much. Turns out….we were right, felt like a big dark spot in the room. I made a quick call to the builders and the next day the granite was removed. Although the backsplash left it’s mark on our drywall, the bathroom felt much “lighter” once it was gone. Just what we wanted!

Guest Bath

The guest bath was the problem bath. I had a perfect plan for our bathrooms. I had the painters put Repose Gray on the walls in the two upstairs bathrooms. Then we had a problem. Because our original vanity tops were no longer orderable, we had to pick from granite remnants. Granite=good. Our builders kindly covered the cost difference. The catch was, I had to decide from the selection available. That particular day, many of my favorites were not availble. Also, the granites that coordinated well with our Repose Gray walls in the bathrooms were not for sale as remnants either.
